Who are all those people in the image?
I’m inspired by a wide variety of people, and they influence the course of my life. There’s Ramana Maharshi on the table, my father and mother, Bradford Keeney in the mix, Jean Klein, Francis Lucille, Panache Desai, Walt Whitman, Osho, the moon (see if you can find the hidden sun & moon – not the eclipse), and many friends, some of whom are listed below in bold…
…and myself.
My Mission Statement for Future Works:
I want to become a veteran, knowing the world (all worlds) – and playing like a wise happy warrior for peace.
I want to be heard – and to be understood in the heart.
For my work, I call on the muses of film, wisdom, truth, the absurd, entertainment, beauty, art, poetry, love to convey experience. I call on all the great beings and ascended masters to oversee the work.
I want to share the essence in my work. I want you to receive a holy dose of light that will expand your perceptions to things you never believed possible – and I want to honor you as you are, to bear with you and within you for long after like a seed, growing, and awakening. I want to entertain and to love you, as you’ve never been loved before. I want to cry and laugh, and I want you to do the same with me.
Biography:
I’m a self-taught artist and filmmaker. I was raised in Stafford, CT and have a studio here currently. At the age of 21, my first feature film was in official selection at Sundance 2006. That same year, my life turned upside-down. Walking alone on the local railroad tracks, I had a spontaneous spiritual awakening. The following months, I drastically changed my life course. A charitable non-profit in Nigeria and Argentina invited me to document their efforts, and I gladly seized the opportunity. Near the end of the year, I helped form a local arts collective for my hometown youth. Opportunities to explore the world of service.
In the summer of 2007, I embarked on a lifestyle shift, which I’d later hear termed the New Life (by Meher Baba) or the way of Peace pilgrim. For 4 and a half months, I travelled south with a small pack and a toothbrush, living as a modern spiritual renunciant.
Upon arriving at the furthest tip of Florida, I felt called to end this chapter and return back to work. In 2008 and 2009, I re-embraced film-making with an ambitious project at the Burning Man Festival alongside friend and filmmaker Arin Crumley. The Burning Man project, which is still in post-production, explores the bounds of idealism, sexuality, and spirituality. It was during that project that I met Tarynn Wiehahn, a co-creating artist and my girlfriend, who I now live with.
In December 2009, I met Panache Desai, a spiritual master who I’ve continued to work and learn alongside. The result has been a series of short films called “Live Beyond the Edge.”
This year in 2011, I’ve got two projects coming forth – one is still unannounced, and the other is under the working title: Sangoma. “Sangoma” delves into earth-centered spirituality and shamanism in South Africa. It was produced with German-born Director Niklas Schrimpf and a team of friends/artists.
I continue to live and work out of Stafford, Connecticut. I have a studio here and run a production company called Ring Cinema, filming and editing both personal endeavors and work for hire. I also spend time writing, and crafting art of wide varieties, as well as enjoying the presence of family and friends.
